The Witcher 2 Map
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings follows Geralt from northern Temeria into Upper Aedirn along the Pontar river, hunting the kingslayer who framed him. The game is built from large hub areas rather than one open world.
Chapter II splits in two: side with Iorveth and you spend it in Vergen, side with Vernon Roche and you join the Kaedweni army camp across the valley. Both paths meet again at Loc Muinne.

Frequently asked questions
Does The Witcher 2 have an open world?
No. Each chapter has a large hub area with its own map, and the story moves you from one to the next.
Which Chapter II path should I pick?
Both are worth playing. Iorveth’s path shows Vergen and Saskia’s side of the war, Roche’s path shows King Henselt’s camp. The areas and many quests differ.
Do Witcher 2 choices carry over to The Witcher 3?
Some do. The Witcher 3 asks about key Witcher 2 decisions at the start, or simulates them if you have no save.
